It's hard to imagine in the middle of a land with severe weather, year-round drought, sunshine on uninterrupted bare sand dunes, there has been a vast lake many generations ago. Bau Trang (White Pool) is located in Binh Nhon village, Hoa Thang ward, Bac Binh district, about 65 kilometers of 1A National Highway from Phan Thiet city or less than 12 km from the resort Hon Rom - Mui Ne.
Bau Trang also known as Bau Sen (Lotus Pool), has a natural fresh water source, surrounded by pristine white sand dunes. Perhaps, Bau Trang became famous from the poem "Bach Ho Nhan Hanh" (Wander On the White Lake) by Nguyen Thong when he came here in 1867. Although called "Bau" (Pool), Bau Trang is a big lake, with the length of a river, nearly 5 km and the distance between the two banks is more than 500 meters. The lake is separated by a strip of land created by ancient people at the narrowest part to get around, from then called Bau Ong (Mr. Pool) and Bau Ba (Mrs. Pool). Bau Ba is covered by lotus and with an area several times as large as Bau Ong. Specially, the water level stays the same all year round. With airy space, under the immense blue sky, Bau Trang looks spreaded all over with clear, blue water, reflecting blurring clouds, even more attractive. The lake with pieces of full green lotus leaves, bearing fragrant yellow lotus flowers makes a water-color picture which is imposing and outstanding. On the lake banks, there are also rows of high Populus trees interspersed with wild groves of green plants and an ancient temple Thien Y - the Holy Mother according to the legend of Cham people. The lake has many species of freshwater fish such as Channa maculata, Anabas testudineus, Clariidae, Ctenopharyngodon idella.. The native people told that decades ago they had also caught crocodiles and sometime seen tigers, leopards..
Next to Bau Trang is a place with equally unique characteristics, Hon Hong sand dune, which overhangs to the sea, covered with pink sand, under the blazing sun. But the more attractive is the Trinh Nu Hill (Virgin Hill). As its name under the gaze of a romantic heart, this sand hill, especially in the sunrise or the sunset, looks like a girl lying on her side, stretching her bare feet..
Today, tourists near and far come here to enjoy themselves into dazzling white sand hills as opposed to the vast lake, blue sky. You may still feel the silence, calming when you come here.
