When it comes to Hai Ha district, people often think of the tea hills, sugarcane garden, cinnamon forest.. But few know that Hai Ha also has a romantic island named Cai Chien.. On the administrative map, Cai Chien is a ward that it takes approximately 30-40 minutes by boat from the port of Hai Ha.
Ride to Cai Chien on a small boat, surf on the silver waves, you'll see land fading away, only the white sandy beaches, blue sea water, islets jutting up from the sea. The road around the island has been concreted for more convenient travelling. The island commnune has a total area of 108km2 but with only 154 households devided into 3 small villages. The islanders are very friendly and hospitable. Their jobs are mostly fishing.
The island is relatively untouched area with ​​500 ha of primary forest and the forest has many ancient trees, wild birds and animals such as monkeys, wild boars, pythons.. specially many kinds of birds immigrate to Cai Chien. They gather from everywhere to make the nests here so that twitters are never absent. The task of protecting natural forests and ecosystems are the first of all people on Cai Chien. The sand beach of the Dau Rong (dragon's head) area is the largest and most beautiful with more than 2km2 sandy, gentle beach and blue ocean waters. Along the coastline is a straight casuarina forest that in the afternoon, after a seabath, you can get into the casuarina forest for hammock to relax with whispering waves and birds chirp or take a fishing rod to the wharf for fishes. There are many types of fish there and you need to bait only a while to have a great meal.
Cai Chien island surely has a lot of interesting things that you want to explore. However, Cai Chien tourism is still a potential, not so well known, no grid electricity, long time transportation and no tourist services for visitors. So that to develop Cai Chien, it needs the interest and investment by individuals and companies in and outside of the province.
