Mang Den is a way to call T'Mang Deeng (in No Man ethnic language). T'Mang means place or region; Deeng mean flat and wide. T'Mang Deeng means a flat and wide place. Today, Mang Den belongs to Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province, and are called by tourists as "the second Dalat". The highland of Mang Den has cool climate all year round, much beautiful scenery. In particular, its primitival forest covers most of the land with wonderful natural landscapes. Along with distinctive cultural traditions of the people, it promises a region of tourism development. Due to its great potential of tourism as such, the Prime Minister has agreed to develop Mang Den into an ecological tourism urban area at the national level.
Currently, many tourism urban areas are developing fast with high-density constructions, ecological environment has been a common problem. Kon Plong district has the advantage of a newborn urban area which is planned at a very low building density, low population, in capability of creating a unique, individual urban area, as a synchronization with the nature. Strategic planners were directed to build Mang Den into an urban eco-tourism area with multi-purpose (low building density from 10% to 20%, high rate of green trees, urban utilities and services with high quality).. Especially, in Kon Plong urban area, the open space systems are closely linked together, connected in harmony with the ecosystem of primitival forest to be a unified whole.
